At Freedom to Work, we believe in the power of personal stories to change hearts and minds and grow support for workplace protections. We’re compiling the experiences of supporters across the country to help educate the American public about why LGBT Americans deserve basic workplace protections.
Ronald Crump of the Los Angeles Police Department is a founding member of the Freedom to Work Speakers Bureau. When his work supervisor targeted him with anti-gay harassment and insults, he raised his voice and complained. When his supervisors responded with retaliation, he took his legal claims to a jury of his peers in a Los Angeles courthouse. He won a significant verdict in the spring of 2011.
Ronald Crump fought for the freedom to work without harassment or retaliation. He fought for the freedom to be judged only by his considerable talent and hard work as a police officer. He won.
